British and Irish Group for the Study of Personality Disorder

BIGSPD

The group was formed in 2000, and is a focus for academic activity and professional networking in the field of personality disorder. The main event each year is a stimulating conference with relevant keynote talks from a variety of fields, presentation of new research and controversial workshops.

These annual meetings are early in the year: London (2000), Leicester (2001), Jersey (2002), Dublin (2003), Cardiff (2004), Glasgow (2005), Nottingham (2006) and Cambridge (2007). The programmes, powerpoint presentations and some memorable photos from each conference will be kept on this site.

President - Kate Davidson; Secretary - Mike Crawford; Treasurer - Mary McMurran; Irish rep - Patricia Casey. The committee members are elected annually, and are currently Anthony Bateman, Janet Feigenbaum, Paul Moran, Fiona Warren and Rex Haigh. Past Presidents Conor Duggan and Peter Tyrer.

NEWS

BIGSPD becomes a limited company

In June 2008, BIGSPD became a private company limited by guarantee. The purpose behind this was to protect members. As BIGSPD was before, members were liable for any debts. It would, however, have been difficult to prove who was a member. Our circumstances have changed now that we have paid membership associated with the new journal, Personality and Mental Health. Being a company limits the financial liability of members. The bad news is that if we do get into debt, then each of you is financially liable to the tune of £1!
